Shelf life, storage, calibration practice and safety data — everything needed to use the gas correctly.
Shelf life by gas
Shelf life runs from the fill date printed on the label, not from the date of delivery. Reactive gases at low concentration age fastest.
Values apply to 34 L and larger aluminium cylinders, counted from the fill date.
Storage & handling
- Store upright, below 50 °C, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
- Keep cylinders in a ventilated area — never in a closed vehicle or cabinet with no airflow.
- Do not puncture, incinerate or attempt to refill. Cylinders are single-use by design.
- Fit the regulator with the outlet pointed away from people, and remove it after use — the cylinder reseals.
- Never inhale gas directly from the cylinder.
- Dispose of empty cylinders through your local pressurised-container waste stream.
Bump test or calibration?
Calibration
A zero point followed by a span point, after which the instrument adjusts its own scale to the certified concentration.
Both start with a gas of known concentration. If the gas is out of date the result means nothing — check the valid-until date on the label first.
Safety data sheets
Each cylinder label carries a QR code that opens the safety data sheet for that mixture. The same sheets are linked from every row of the gas finder.
